The Greek goddess of the soul, Psyche- fifth element of the spirit- originated in the Neolithic worship of the butterfly, which symbolizes metamorphosis: death of the body/rebirth of the spirit. As Jim put it perhaps, As the body is ravaged/The spirit grows stronger. ...The scream of the butterfly?... In any case, this project does seem to be saying something to that effect. "Psyche" is a charcoal and colored pencil portrait,

Interesting note: I discovered in my research that the word "Psyche" is also the root of the term "psychedelic"; which, directly translated from Greek, means "to show the soul".  [About the Artist]
